Presentation
CANNADIG belongs to the network of projects #AGROALNEXT, specifically within the research line "Innovative Technologies for Sustainable and Smart Primary Production," which is funded by the European funds #NextGenerationEU, allocated by the Ministry of Science and Innovation to the Generalitat Valenciana under the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan of the Spanish economy. The project is coordinated by the Miguel Hernández University (UMH), which collaborates with the University of Alicante (UA).
The purpose of CANNADIG is to characterize the ecophysiological and productive responses of hemp for the production of cannabidiol (CBD) using different agroecological techniques aimed at improving the sustainability of production, including the use of a photovoltaic mesh. Additionally, the project aims to develop a cultivation system model that contributes to predicting its performance based on production conditions. The efficiency of water and energy use, hemp production, and CBD quality are also evaluated. The sustainability of the cultivation is analyzed based on technical-economic, environmental, and socio-economic criteria. Furthermore, applications that ensure digital traceability of the value chain are being studied.
Finally, the project aims to develop a training and technology transfer system for the main stakeholders.
